Special Bus & Train Services to Continue Today
Special bus and train services that commenced during the festive season to commute passengers to Colombo from hometowns will continue today as well.
Sri Lanka Railways General Manager Vijaya Amarathunga said the income of the Railway Department during the festive season has increased considerably.
However, Amarathunga said the special transportation service will end tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Transport Board and the National Transportation Commission said the special bus services that operated during the festive season will conclude tomorrow.
SLTB has generated an income of 2 million rupees during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
Deputy General Manager of Railways DPR Gunathileke said in comparison to last year, the board has generated a high income.
3,284 additional SLTB buses were in operation this year. Revenue of the Southern Expressway exceeded 1 million rupees during the two festive holidays.
Speaking to NewsRadio, authorities of the Expressway said revenue of the Colombo – Katunayake Expressway exceeded 4 million rupees.
