Special Bus Services During Festive Season
A special bus service for the New Year will commence next Wednesday. Director of the National Transportation Commission Vipula Hewamuni said 1500 additional buses will be deployed.
Furthermore, in association with the Sri Lanka Transportation Board, 100 additional buses will operate on highways around the country.
During the New Year, suitable and safe additional semi-luxury buses will operate on highways. Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Transportation Board has planned to deploy 1800 additional buses.
Chairman of SLTB Ramaal Siriwardena said 2200 new buses will be in operation during the festive season. Buses will operate during the New Year in two stages.
Buses are scheduled to travel to villages up to the 16th of April, thereafter buses will return to Colombo starting from the 17th of April. Additional buses will operate till the 21st of April.
Transportation Superintendent of the Railway Department L.A.R. Rathnayake says a special train service will commence during the festive season from the 10th – 19th of April.
50 train journeys will operate during this period. Trains will commence their journey from the Fort Railway Station.
