NTC receives over 3000 complaints against private transport services
The National Transport Commission says that they have received 3400 public complaints with regard to private bus services during the new year season.
Chairman D. S. Jayaweera stated that a majority of these complaints were about high rates and measures are underway to investigate these complaints. He said that of the 3400 complaints, around 3300 complaints were addressed immediately, while there are few which needs to be resolved. The number of commuters were less, compared to the amount of buses deployed.
The reason behind this situation was that passenger market ration between public transport including and train and bus services and private means of transport had changed this year. There were large grounds to use the expressway. Further, they noted that with the help of experience this year that they hope to make bus services more effective in the future.
